Fiche technique complète
7:15 am, your Griffon has just cornered an old boar in dense bracken. You hear the struggle — harsh barking, grunting, splintering branches. In 30 seconds, a tusk thrust can rip open a dog from chest to flank. That's how you lose a hunting companion in a season.
\nUnless your dog wears a RoG Elite i3.
\nSeven layers of UHMWPE (Dyneema®-type) envelop the thorax and abdomen. The boar can charge, bite, pin — the vest absorbs it all. You recover your dog intact, ready to hunt again the following week. It's life insurance that pays for itself on its first use by avoiding an £800 veterinary visit.
\n\n\nFor over 10 years, hunting dog vests have remained stuck with Kevlar: rigid, heavy, moisture-absorbing, difficult to maintain. The RoG Elite i3 abandons Kevlar in favour of a next-generation technical textile derived from the most demanding military and outdoor applications.
\n\nThe outer fabric combines high-density anti-abrasion Nylon 1200D with double polyurethane coating. It glides over thorns, resists barbed wire, doesn't catch on spines. Unlike Kevlar, which absorbs moisture, this textile is hydrophobic: water slides off, doesn't penetrate. After crossing a stream, your dog remains light and mobile.
\n\nInside, seven layers of UHMWPE fibre (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene, Dyneema®-type) envelop critical areas (thorax, flanks, abdomen). This fibre is used in lightweight ballistic protection — it resists sharp objects, boar tusks, thorns and barbed wire points. Specific 1200D anti-abrasion reinforcements at neck and abdomen level.
\n\nAn integrated aluminium film provides active thermal insulation against cold (useful for winter wild boar hunts). The lining remains breathable to prevent overheating in action. The dog can wear the vest all day without thermal stress, whatever the season.
\n\nYour Griffon Vendéen corners a 90 kg solitary boar in dense cover. Tusk thrust on the left flank — without a vest, it would have been disembowelment. With the RoG Elite i3, the UHMWPE fibre absorbs the blow, the dog takes the impact but no open wound. Vet visit avoided, season saved.
\n\nYour Spaniel pursues a hare across an enclosure delimited by 3 rows of barbed wire. Without a vest, deep cuts guaranteed, sutures required. With the RoG Elite i3, the 1200D anti-abrasion layer glides over the points, no perforation. Dog that continues its day unimpeded.
\n\nPointer in action over sharp limestone terrain. Repeated friction against limestone, impacts on protruding rocks. The double-coated Nylon I3 resists without marking, the dog doesn't get scraped. No visible wear after several intense outings.
\n\n| Criterion | \nRoG Elite i3 🥇 | \nClassic Kevlar vest | \n
|---|---|---|
| Tear resistance | ✅ Very high (Nylon I3 + dPU) | ✅ Good but rigid |
| Perforation resistance | ✅ 7-layer UHMWPE (Dyneema®) | ✅ Good (Kevlar) |
| Abrasion resistance | ✅ Excellent (snag-resistant PU coating) | ⚠️ Less good, snags more |
| Flexibility / mobility | ✅ Optimal (supple & light) | ❌ Less flexible |
| Weight | ✅ 446 g (T45) to 1 298 g (T85) | ❌ Often heavier |
| Thermal insulation | ✅ Aluminium film + breathability | ⚠️ Poor |
| Waterproofing | ✅ Shedding & breathable | ❌ Often moisture-absorbing |
| Water non-absorption | ✅ Water slides off, doesn't penetrate | ❌ Water saturates the Kevlar |
| Morphological adaptability | ✅ Adjustable modular closure | ⚠️ Often rigid sizing |
| Overall durability | ✅ Very long service life | ⚠️ Faster wear |
| Maintenance | ✅ Dries quickly, low-staining | ❌ Difficult, absorbs water |
Nine sizes available to fit all hunting dog body types:
\nTo choose the right size: measure chest circumference just behind the front legs and back length. If in doubt, contact our customer service — we'll help you choose based on breed and body type.
\n\nAccessories available separately: slider kit for optimal morphological adjustment, female extension for additional adjustment.
\n\n\nYes, within the limits of lightweight ballistic protection. The 7 layers of UHMWPE (Dyneema®-type) absorb impact energy and prevent perforation by tusks and points. No vest makes a dog completely invulnerable to a very large solitary boar — but the RoG Elite i3 drastically reduces the risk of serious and costly injury.
\n\nYes, that's precisely the strong point of the RoG Elite i3. Unlike Kevlar, it is light, supple and breathable. The aluminium film insulates against cold in winter, the breathable lining prevents overheating in action. No restriction to mobility — the dog runs, jumps, swims without constraint.
\n\nYes, the vest integrates a dedicated area for the tracking collar, positioned so as not to interfere. Compatible with TR DOG V2, RoG V1, RoG Area IV collars, and most brands on the market.
\n\nRinse with clean water after each outing, gentle brushing to remove mud and debris. In case of heavy soiling, hand wash in lukewarm water with mild soap. Do not machine wash to preserve the UHMWPE layers and aluminium film. Air dry away from direct sunlight.
\n\n1-year manufacturer warranty on parts (zip, Velcro, seams) and manufacturing defects. The fabric and protective layers are designed to last through several seasons of intensive use.
\n\nDelivery to mainland France within 48–72 hours, GLS shipping with tracking.
